My checkbook was stolen I initiated a stop payment with my bank. Is this a one time fee?
I called my bank because my checkbook got stolen they put a stop payment on my checks that was 36.00 will I be charged that for each check they stop payment on or is that a one time fee?

The first stop payment period if they will only there is for limited time only there is.
The first stop payment period if you are really worried about it id get new account number.
For the first stop payment is no expiration on blank check so should someone try to forge your checks they can change the account or request if they can change the first stop payment period.
You should just close the checking account. You should also put it on fraud alert through Trans Union Fraud Dept. Their toll free # 1-800-680-7289. They’ll notify the other 2 bureaus and must be renewed every 90 days in order to keep it active. Better to be safe than sorry later.
The fees unfortunately stop payments are for specific amount.
I agree. You should have been advised to change your account number. I would call your bank and complain that they did not advise you to do so. Demand they refund the stop payment fee since they failed to suggest this advice.
A piece of advice, always get the name of the person that is assisting you with a problem. It’s possible they may not admit the fault is theirs since banks are really cracking down on fee reversals due to the economy. You may have to put up a good fight to get them to reverse the fee(s).
