Why does my bank charge me a fee if someone bounces a check ?

Hi friends.
I lady I know paid my with a check. I deposited into my bank account. She bounced the check and my bank charges my $15.00 why??
Help ! I do not understand.

    Banks make extra revenue by charging this fee. Contact your bank and ask them to reverse the charge. If you have been a good customer and not had problems, they should take the fee off willingly.

    Next time go to the person’s bank and cash the check there. You can then deposit the cash to your account if you so desire. This way you won’t have a fee and will know sooner if there is a problem. There is no fee to do this.

    They do this to discourage you from depositing fraudulent checks. What you need to do is get payment in cash plus the bounced check fee.
